Croatia Sailing Itinerary Split

Day 1. Unwind in serene villages of island Brač

Leaving Split yacht charter base behind bear south towards largest Dalmatian island Brač best-known of its amazing pebbled beaches, untouched nature and charming tiny villages. 

Pučišča often called "the stone kingdom of Croatia" is the perfect getaway from huste and bustle of coastal towns. Located at the end of a long colorful bay, this lovely site is well-known of a unique white marble buildings and a quaint Dalmatian atmosphere. Gleaming stone, indigent to the island and a remarkable Renaissance architecture are creating impressive surroundings, ideal to spend a quiet first evening within a genuine small-town ambience. If you don't feel like cooking take a short walk and taste fresh local delicacies in restaurant LADO.

Day 2. Explore oldest Dalmatian village Stari Grad

Admire scenic landscapes overgrown with fruitful vineyards and olive groves during your morning cruise along the rugged shores of Brač. Studena bay on southern side is a wonderful spot for a quick swim of a afternoon lunch before you moor your sailboat. Situated in a beautifully carved bay on the eastern part of Hvar, Stari Grad is one of the most beautiful naturally protected harbours in Croatia.

Unique green hilltops and breathtaking dense forests are watching over this deeply carved bay. When you sail closer to the land you can already smell perfumed air of lavender and pine. In translation Stari Grad means "Old Town". No wonder, since it's second oldest town in Croatia and a protected UNESCO world heritage site. Docking your yacht in town port will allow you to explore further and wander around crisscrossed streets reflecting authentic heartbeat of Dalmatia. HORA restaurant is where you will find best wine tastings and traditionally prepared local delicacies.

Day 3. Famous Promenades Of Hvar

Say farewell to Stari Grad and don't forget to stock the yacht's lockers with fresh fruit and veggies, that you can find at the town's market.
Drop anchor in one of well-sheltered bays on Hvar's western side for a quick refereshment and later perhaps visit "Golden Horn" beach on Brač before reaching lush-green Pakleni Islands. ACI marina Palmizana is a ideal location from where you can visit Hvar town. Simply embark on one of the shuttle boats that will take you to the heart of this jet-set town within a couple of minutes. 

Now simply blend into the promenades of Hvar. A spectacular view from historic Spanjola fortress, guarding the city is simply breathtaking. From here you will have best views over the monumental Venetian architecture, buzzing town squares and neighboring dotted islands that complete the charm of this Dalmatian jewel.

Later on find a nice spot to have a drink in one of stylish beach bars, taste the wines of Hvar or try local delicacy a fish stew called GREGADA".

Day 4. Exploring colourful bays of Korčula

Today we set sail towards Korčula. Waiting for afternoon winds to pick up, take a lunch in one of the bays on island Šćedro half way to your final destination Vela Luka harbour. Embedded into deeply carved bays surrounded with lush-green hills, olive groves and aromatic pine forests Vela Luka was always welcoming sailors. Which is the ultimate reason to stop for some shopping.

To experience its genuine maritime pulse, dock your sailing boat in fashionable marina Korkyra and later discover numerous restaurants of Korčula and taste local delicacies based on freshly caught fish and local beef. "Bata" and "Stari Ribar" are recommended for seafood lovers. If you get there in time take the opportunity and visit Korčula old town, known of being the birthplace of world traveller Marco Polo.

Day 5. Legends & Myths of island Vis

Still covered in the veil of secrets, the intriguing Vis is truly the island of legends. Renting a yacht in Split with local skipper will allow you to discover Vis as a local and uncover its most hidden secrets. Situated in the middle of Adriatic sea it was one of the most wanted Mediterranean strategical posts claimed by various nations and empires for centuries. Many decades a forbidden destination, Vis preserved the status of being one of the rare still untouched heavenly oasis of Croatia. With only 2 villages of altogether 5.000 inhabitants and no industry miles around the whole archipelago offers impressive and diverse underwater habitat and ideal locations for diving and snorkelling. You can moor sailing yacht in a buzzing Vis harbour. Or opt for smaller Komiža village where you can expect more peaceful Dalmatian vibe. Charismatic fishermen, traditionally built wooden vessels of town harbour and exhibiting artists, are completing a unique charm of this picturesque location.

Day 6. The greens & Blues of Šolta island

Following morning you can rent a boat taxi to shuttle you to the »Blue cave« on Biševo. In this spectacular naturally formed cavity you can witness colourful game between the sun and the sea, which generates a unique blue light. The tour usually takes 1 hour. It is always welcoming to fill your stomach before going on water. So instead of a early lunch rather taste local delicacy "Komiža cake" traditionally baked from local housewives.

Early afternoon sailing towards the "green island" Šolta, might give us a close encounter with a group of playful dolphins or a tuna flock that these waters are swarming with. Šolta in translation means "olive tree". The agriculture on this island was recognised by Austrian empress nearly 200 years ago. Whatever you do here, think green and eat local. Overnight in a small port Rogač or Stomorska with numerous restaurants nearby.

Day 7. Discovering Trogir old town

Spend the last day swimming, snorkelling and chilling in one of the coves before docking at the base marina. Visit the "Blue Lagoon" bay on Drvenik island where you reflect on all the wonderful days at sea and relive your yacht charter vacation experience.

It is recommended to get to your home marina earlier and save some time to explore the historic sites nearby. Either Split if you didn't get the chance for the first day, or visit one of the most beautiful Croatian rivieras - Trogir.

The UNESCO Trogir old town is one of the most charming locations with endless crisscrossed streets. Take a walk along the seaside promenades, buy some souvenirs, or just have a nice dinner in one of the many restaurants. Don't forget to invite your skipper on the last night out.
